Life Settlement Law by State

Life Settlement Regulated
Regulates Viaticals Only

Integrity – Reliability – Experience

Currently, 42 states and the territory of Puerto Rico regulate life settlements, affording approximately 90% of the United States population protection under comprehensive life settlement laws and regulations (1).

Much like life insurance, the state insurance departments handle the regulation of life settlements. Rescission periods, compensation disclosure requirements, licensing requirements all may vary based on the state where the policy is owned.
Jurisdiction is determined by the state of residence of the policyowner, with few exceptions.
